''Julia's Kitchen Wisdom'' (Knopf, 2000, ISBN 0-375-41151-8) is a book of cooking principles, first published in 2000, that was based on the notebook of the famous American television chef Julia Child. ==Description== The book ''Julia's Kitchen Wisdom'' accompanied a TV special of the same name and was compiled by co-author David Nussbaum, who had worked with Child and Jacques Pépin on their book of the previous year, ''Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home''. It was Child's last published book before her death in 2004 and was intended as a quick reference for common kitchen techniques rather than a comprehensive cookbook in the manner of 1961's ''Mastering the Art of French Cooking'' or 1989's ''The Way To Cook''. The book follows the practice used in previous books (particularly ''The Way To Cook'') of focusing on "master recipes", basic recipes representing a specific principle or ingredient, and then presenting other dishes as variants thereof. Due to its brevity, it also shies away from presenting complex recipes such as puff pastry, referring readers to Child's earlier, more in-depth work for such items. ''Julia's Kitchen Wisdom'' was reissued in 2009 in a paperback edition as a tie-in to the movie version of the book ''Julie & Julia''.
